Legislative Policy Briefing: The Promise of Dual Enrollment
Thank you to all of those who attended our Policy Briefing: The Promise of Dual Enrollment, co-hosted by the California EDGE Coalition, Career Ladder’s Project, and California League of Community Colleges. The event featured new research from the Career Ladders Project, which highlights opportunities and challenges within the dual enrollment process. An expert panel of speakers from East Los Angeles College, Hartnell College, and Chaffey College gave insight as to how their institutions are tackling such barriers to create phenomenal opportunities for their students.
These institutions serve as exemplars for dual enrollment programs in California. Through innovation and dedication, these colleges are working to capitalize on opportunities created through recent legislation, and problem solve to overcome the remaining barriers. Research shows that dual enrollment programs increase access to postsecondary education and training. These programs improve success for all students, particularly young men of color, low income, and first-generation students. EDGE is excited to continue working in collaboration with our partners to identify and promote solutions that aid programs in overcoming the existing barriers and foster the growth of dual enrollment programs across the state.
